About Me:
Nicole Dumel, MA, OWDS, GCDF
As a passionate and experienced advocate, I have spent 10 years serving residents, businesses, behavioral health providers, employers, and law enforcement agencies to assist them in reaching their goals to provide inclusive, equitable, cost-effective, and informed practices involving those impacted by the criminal legal system.
I have worked as a Senior Policy Analyst for the Council of State Governments Justice Center where I provided training and technical assistance to Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Project programs including law enforcement, corrections, co-responder, and specialty courts across the USA to encourage the use of best practices and informed decisions. I also formerly oversaw the Rockland County Re-entry Task Force, where I served as the primary liaison between corrections, individuals, and the community to oversee all aspects of individuals transitioning home from incarceration. In addition to professional experience, I hold a Masters Degree from John Jay College of New York in Criminal Justice specializing in Criminology and Deviance, as well as an advanced Master's Certificate in Criminal Investigation.
Never wanting to be too far from where all of this work begins, I actively provide weekly Cognitive Behavioral Intervention in Rockland County Jail for incarcerated individuals to address their criminogenic thinking. I am a certified Trainer-of-Trainers in Interactive Journaling, and a certified facilitator of Moral Reconation Therapy, Thinking for a Change, and The Girls Circle.
I have provided consulting to individuals, behavioral health providers, re-entry programs, employers, law enforcement agencies, and colleges/adult education centers since 2020 with a focus on business strategy, avoiding negligent hiring claims, curriculum design, Cognitive Behavioral Intervention implementation, self-advocacy, and much more.
I am truly passionate about the work that I do, the population that I serve, and making advancements towards a more fair, cost-effective, and strategy driven community for us all.
I look forward to the opportunity for us to work together!
